A&T Softball Falls to Campbell

Jailyn Tineo records two hits for A&T.

EAST GREENSBORO – Campbell swept North Carolina A&T in a three-game Big South Conference softball series by defeating the Aggies 8-0 in Game 3 on Sunday at the Lady Aggies Softball Complex.

The Aggies are 12-21 on the season and 2-10 in the Big South. Campbell improved to 20-11 overall and 8-4 in the league.

Freshman Jailyn Tineo recorded both A&T hits, including a double, while Joey Barkhimer (5-4) picked up the loss giving up three runs in one inning.

Campbell loaded the bases in the first inning with two outs, but Barkhimer got the next batter to fly out to center field to end the Camels threat.

However, Campbell scored three runs in the third inning after an error allowed two runs to score, and an RBI double by Diana Parker made it 3-0.

The Camels scored two runs in the fourth inning after an RBI groundout and an RBI single for a 5-0 lead.

Campbell finished the game with three runs in the fifth inning after an error allowed a run to score, followed by an RBI triple and double as the Aggies were run-ruled.
