PROBABLE STARTER: RHP Mariah Headen (2-5, 40.1 IP, 51 H, 32 R, 18 K) 

 HEATING UP: Freshman Mariah Headen is sporting a 2.07 ERA with a 2-2 record giving up seven earned runs in her last 23.2 innings pitched with 11 strikeouts. 

WHO'S ON FIRE:  Freshman Icess Tresvik is hitting .333 (10-for-30) in her last 12 games with three runs scored, two home runs and five RBI. Tresvik went 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI in the doubleheader Saturday.

AGGIES OVERVIEW: The Aggies traveled to Hampton the last time out and lost the Big South Conference series, 2-1. The Aggies did win the series finale 6-3 to generate their first conference road win of the season. Sophomore Kendall Macauley led the Aggies by going 4-for-10 against the Pirates with three runs scored and a triple. Freshman Dezianna Patmon and graduate Jazzmaine Hammond batted bot went 3-for-9.  

Hammond added a run, an inside-the-park home run and two RBI. Patmon scored once, doubled and recorded two RBI.

Junior Kayla Douglas led the Aggies with a 1.91 ERA giving up three earned runs in 11.0 innings pitched with seven strikeouts. Headen went 1-0 with a 2.00 ERA giving up two runs in seven innings pitched with three strikeouts.

MOUNTAINEERS OVERVIEW: Appalachian State is coming off losing two out of three to Louisiana after losing the final two games of the series. App State is 0-2 against Big South opponents, with losses to Presbyterian (8-0) and USC Upstate (9-6). 

Kayt Houston leads the team with a .395 batting average, 60 hits, 10 doubles, 13 home runs and 40 RBI. Mary Pierce Barnes has a .315 batting average with 31 RBI. Delani Buckner has a 12-8 record and a 2.92 ERA with a team-best 101 strikeouts.

News & Notes: 

  • Today's game will serve as a makeup game after the two teams did not play on April 26 because there was inclement weather in the forecast. 
  • The Aggies also have a makeup game against Charleston Southern on May 4 with a noon doubleheader. The teams were supposed to play a three-game series, April 22-23. 
  • The Aggies have not played a game since April 16. 
  • Tresvik received the first Big South Conference pitcher of the week in program history and is the third Aggie to receive a weekly honor this season, joining Patmon (2/22) and Jailyn Tineo (2/28). They each received freshman of the week accolades.
  • Patmon has reached base safely in six consecutive games, the longest current streak on the team. She reached base safely in 10 straight games, which stands as the Aggies longest of the season.
  • Hammond and Patmon are on three-game hitting streaks.   
  • Tresvik's 10 home runs are the most since 2012, when Sabrina Edmonds hit 11. Her 29 RBI are the most since 2016, when Zadaisha Waddell drove in 35.  
  • The Aggies have hit 26 home runs this season, the most since 2013, when A&T hit 27 after hitting 28 in 2012.
