WHO'S ON FIRE: Freshman catcher Jailyn Tineo is hitting .600 (9-for-15) with four doubles, 11 RBI, a triple and three runs scored over the last eight games. In the previous eight, freshman third baseman Dezianna Patmon batted .550 (11-for-20) with nine runs scored, seven RBI, two home runs and a double. In the circle, Joey Barkhimer leads the team with a 4-0 record and a 2.66 ERA in the team's last eight games with 21 strikeouts. Â
AGGIES OVERVIEW:Â Last time out, A&T destroyed North Carolina Central 13-0 in five innings, as Patmon and Jazzmaine Hammond hit three-run home runs, and Tineo recorded a three-run triple.
Before this weekend, the Aggies have played just two games away from the Lady Aggies Softball Complex. In addition, the Aggies have played only one true road game this season, a 10-2 loss in five innings to the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. However, the Aggies have taken advantage of their home field, going 8-4 at The Complex.Â
Head coach Patti Raduenz is in her third season at A&T. The COVID-19 pandemic cut her first season to only 23 games played. Raduenz then led the Aggies to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Southern Division title in her second year.Â
Chattanooga hosted a tournament and went 2-2 in the Frost Classic last weekend. Olivia Lipari leads the team with a .364 batting average. Brooke Parrott leads the team with a 5-1 record and a 0.70 ERA.
Auburn's only loss was to No. 3 UCLA, 9-0 in six innings, after beating No. 11 Texas 6-2. The Tigers have three batters hitting over .400 with Makayla Packer (.480), Carlee McCondichie (.462) and Denver Bryant (.444). Shelby Lowe leads in the circle with a 7-1 record and a 0.80 ERA.
Toledo defeated the Big South Conference's Charleston Southern 18-5 in five innings and 5-4 in the first two games. But the Rockets are 1-7 since that point. Aubrey Reed leads the team with a .524 batting average. Makenna Durieux leads the team with a 2-0 record and a 5.00 ERA.
