LAST MEETING: These teams last met on April 14, 2021 in Raleigh, a 10-4 victory for the Wolfpack. Nine players on the current A&T roster played in the game.

WHO'S HOT: It sounds like a broken record at this point, but Cort Maynard has been unreal for the Aggies of late. In his last 10 games, he is hitting .389 with 14 hits, including six home runs and four doubles. Maynard also has 13 of his 16 RBI this season in the last 10 games as well as a 1.000 slugging percentage. Justin Williams led A&T with eight home runs in 52 games last season; Maynard already has six in 19 games.

AGGIES OVERVIEW:  The Aggies won two out of three games against Canisius over the weekend, securing their third straight series victory.

Big South head coaches tabbed the Aggies to finish 10th out of 11 Big South teams in the preseason poll. They have not played a conference game yet, but their Big South debut happens Friday when they welcome Longwood to East Greensboro.

A&T finds themselves within the top three in two major statistical categories through 19 games, however. They are third in hitting (.277) and second in pitching (4.00 ERA).

A&T has won two midweek games this season, beating UNCG and Appalachian State earlier this month. Against the Mountaineers, Brown pitched 6.2 innings and gave up just one run with three strikeouts.

Head coach Ben Hall is in his eighth year at A&T. He has an overall record of 150-202 (.426).

WOLFPACK OVERVIEW:  The Wolfpack are coming off a weekend series where they dropped two of three against No. 8 Florida State. ACC head coaches voted N.C. State to finish second in the Atlantic Division in the preseason poll. The Pack collected 76 points in total, including one first-place vote.

Their offense is loaded with talent, led by freshman infielder Tommy White, whose collegiate debut included three home runs against Evansville. He hasn't cooled down since, batting .360, and he ranks second in the country in home runs (11) and RBI (36).

As talented as the hitters are, the pitchers are the same. Ten members of their staff have thrown 10-plus innings and possess a sub-5.00 ERA. Right-hander Garrett Payne, whom the Aggies are likely to face, has thrown 13.2 innings this year and has a 2.63 ERA with 22 strikeouts.

Head coach Elliott Avent is 937-558 (.627) in his 26th year at N.C. State. He has led the Pack to two College World Series appearances, including last year, before COVID-19 ended their season.
