EAST GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T played two more thrilling softball games on Saturday at the Lady Aggies Softball Complex.

Owners of three walk-off wins and three extra-inning games already this season, the Aggies played in two-one run suspense-filled contests on Saturday, losing 9-8 to the George Mason Patriots before taking down the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights 8-7.

The Aggies are 5-4 overall and 3-1 in one-run games on the young season.

In the final game on Saturday, the Aggies rallied from a three-run deficit before holding the Knights in the seventh to preserve the win.

The Knights (2-2) took a 5-2 lead in the visitor's sixth on a two-run RBI single from LoriAnne O'Connor. But the Aggies used some timely hitting and some FDU mistakes to post a huge sixth inning of their own. The Aggies loaded the bases with one out thanks to a single from freshman Icess Tresvik, a walk to freshman Dezianna Patmon and a single by sophomore Kayla Taylor

FDU then went with Julia Swann in the circle to face freshman Joey Barkhimer. Barkhimer reached on a fielding error that allowed senior pinch runner Vivica Boyd to score, cutting the Knights lead to 5-3. Freshman Jailyn Tineo tied the game with a two-run single through the left side, scoring Patmon and graduate pinch runner Jazzmaine Hammond

Barkhimer put the Aggies in the lead for the first time since the second inning as she touched home plate on a fielding error that allowed freshman Mariah Headen to score for a 6-5 Aggies lead. Two more A&T runs came home thanks to the Aggies putting the ball in play and some Knight mishaps.

Junior Latianna Langley hit a groundball to the pitcher, allowing Tineo to score. An error by catcher Sabrina Javorsky on the play allowed Headen to score for an 8-5 Aggies advantage.

But the Knights gave Barkhimer some trouble as she stepped into the circle. Hayden Salter hit an RBI double to score a run and advance Jess DeWitt to third after DeWitt reached on a single. An RBI sacrifice fly to center field by Savannah Thornwell made it an 8-7 ballgame as DeWitt scored.

However, Barkhimer settled in and got Javorsky to foul to end the game. Barkhimer (2-0) picked up the win, and Swan (0-1) took the loss.

Tineo and Headen drove in two runs apiece in the win over FDU as Tineo went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, and Headen had a 1-for-3 outing with a run scored. Patmon had two hits in two at-bats and scored twice.

Four Aggies had multiple-hit games against George Mason earlier in the day. Sophomore Alyxx Estrada went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Fuller had two hits, two runs, and an RBI in four at-bats, and Patmon added to her terrific Saturday, going 2-for-4 while scoring a run and driving in a run. Senior Jocelyn Bennett also had two hits and an RBI.

Sophomore S'Nyiah Stinson (1-2) took the loss against the Patriots. Carly Cooper (1-0) got the win.

The Patriots (1-1) broke open a 4-4 tie in the sixth by scoring four runs. They added another run in the seventh on a home run from Haley Taormina to take a 9-4 lead. But the Aggies made another strong rally late in a ballgame.

Three straight one-out singles from sophomore Kiara Richards, Bennett and Headen loaded the bases. An infield single by Langley allowed Richards to score to move the Aggies to within four. Fuller then hit into a fielder's choice, which scored Boyd, who came in as a pinch runner, dwindling the Patriots lead to three, 9-6.

However, the fielder's choice eliminated Headen from the base paths as she tried to advance to third. Estrada came things going with two outs as she hit a two-run double to center to score Fuller and Langley as the Aggies crept to within one at 9-8.

But a groundout by Patmon ended the game.
