BALTIMORE, Md. – North Carolina A&T is in first place after the first day of bowling at the Morgan State James Brown Invitational on Friday. The Aggies are ranked No. 6 in the country in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll. They went 4-1 during Bakers play, putting together four-straight 1,000-plus games.
The Aggies started slow, dropping their first match of the day to No. 11 Duquesne, 923-895. It was their lowest score of the day.
However, they got going quickly, besting St. Francis College-Brooklyn, 1,020-873, in the next game. A&T finished the game with three strong matches of 236-235-236 to earn their first win. Then, the sixth-ranked Aggies blew out Mount Aloysius College with their highest score of the day, 1,092-785, in Game 3.
In the fourth game, the ladies bowled a single-match school record 290 in the fourth match and coupled that with four more 200-plus games for a 1,069-854 victory over Saint Francis (PA). The Aggies finished their day with their fourth-straight 1,000-plus game, defeating No. 25 Kutztown University, 1,080-887.
Saturday will consist of traditional play. The competition begins at 10 a.m. Junior Lauren Tomaszewski is coming off her first tournament victory at the Prairie View A&M Invitational on Jan. 28-30.
