Jazmin Harris records 18 points and nine rebounds.

DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina A&T women's basketball started the 2022-23 season in an early morning contest against the ACC's Duke Blue Devils at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Monday.

Graduate Jazmin Harris led the Aggies with 18 points and nine rebounds, but the Blue Devils shot 53.1 percent in the second half to eventually beat the Aggies 77-57.

Harris scored in double figures for her ninth straight game and was joined by junior Maleia Bracone with 11 points, and senior Nyah Willis came off the bench to score 10. Junior D'Mya Tucker added nine rebounds. Bracone added five rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Duke jumped out to a 10-0 lead before two Willis free throws got the Aggies on the board at the 4:38 mark of the first quarter. Duke extended its lead to 15-4 on a Celeste Taylor jumper. But the Aggies scored the next four points with two free throws apiece from Talia Davis and Harris. However, Duke ended the first on an 8-0 run to take a 23-8 lead.

The Blue Devils then outscored the Aggies 11-2 to open the second quarter as they hit five of their first six shots. The Aggies scored four straight, including a Harris layup, to make it a 34-14 game with 3:07 remaining in the first half. But Duke ended another quarter strong by scoring the final four points of the first half to take a 39-16 halftime lead.

Duke grew its lead to as many as 31 points in the third quarter. The Aggies did go on an 11-2 run in the fourth quarter to cut Duke's lead to 65-49 with 3:43 remaining in the game. But a Jordyn Oliver 3-pointer to close the Aggies out.
