MILLSBORO, Del. – North Carolina A&T finished the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Meet #1 bowling tournament with a perfect 8-0 record in Baker matches Saturday afternoon.The Aggies, ranked seventh nationally in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll, are on a roll. They have now won their last two tournaments while improving to 28-5 on the season.
Saturday started with a N.C. A&T bye, where they totaled 866 pins before the Aggies defeated the University of Alabama-Birmingham 930-863. The Aggies followed that performance by beating Coppin State 914-783 and finished with a day with a 1,024-938 win over tournament-host Maryland Eastern Shore, the 14th-ranked team in the nation. A&T's 1,024 marked the second-highest score of the day.
N.C. A&T totaled 8,705 pins. UMES and No. 12 Delaware State finished in a second-place tie at 6-2. Del State knocked down 8,758 pins, and UMES totaled 8,495. MEAC play returns Feb. 18-19 with eight traditional matches at Triad Lanes in Greensboro, N.C., to determine the regular-season champion and qualifying teams.
The Aggies return to Millsboro Lanes this weekend for the UMES Hawk Classic, Nov. 18-20.
