ARLINGTON, Texas – The North Carolina A&T bowling team finished sixth in the Prairie View A&M Invitational on Sunday afternoon.
Junior Lauren Tomaszewski claimed tournament MVP and earned all-tournament team honors after finishing first in individual play with 1,372 pins in six matches for a 228.67 average.
The eighth-ranked team in the nation, according to the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA), Youngstown State, defeated No. 7, Fairleigh Dickinson, to earn a date with the Aggies in the second round.
It was a match that A&T quickly won, 4-0. The Aggies outbowled the Penguins, 853-753, in the match.
Sixth-ranked Louisiana Tech handled Fairleigh Dickinson to advance to the next round to face A&T.
The Aggies won the first game, 244-201, to go up 1-0 on the Bulldogs. However, A&T went cold shortly after, failing to eclipse the 200-plus mark the rest of the match, while La Tech scored 200-plus in three of the four final frames to claim victory and a fifth-place finish.
The Aggies now look ahead to Morgan State James Brown Invitational, Feb. 11-13 in Baltimore, Md.
