LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the second consecutive year, North Carolina A&T women's volleyball received the United State Marine Corps/the American Volleyball Coaches Association Academic honors.
"I'm very proud of our team's effort in the classroom," head coach
Hal Clifton said. "It shows that our team is focused on excellence in all that they do. Our players are very driven on the court and that carries over into the classroom, the weight room and all that they do. Out of 16 players we have 14 above a 3.0 and nine of those young ladies above 3.5. I'm so proud of each and every one of our team members. To win a Conference Championship, make the NCAA tournament and have a GPA like this during COVID is absolutely outstanding."
The Aggies are one of 243 Division I programs to receive Team Academic Honors this past season. The 2019-20 season was the first time the Aggies received the honors.
N.C. A&T transitioned into the Big South at the beginning of July. The Aggies are coming off with a historical season last season winning the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) southern division for the second consecutive season. A&T then won the MEAC championship for the first time in school history and the first trip to the NCAA tournament.
To qualify for the award, a volleyball team must maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale.
