GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T softball dropped both games of the doubleheader against UNC Greensboro Saturday with an 8-0 loss in five innings in the first game and an 11-2 loss in five innings in the second game at UNCG Softball Stadium.
Sophomore right fielder
Jai Deese recorded the only hit in the first game for the Aggies to extend her hitting streak to five games. She failed to record a hit in the second game, but walked twice to extend her on-base streak to six games.
Freshman shortstop
Alyxx Estrada entered the day with a four-game on-base streak and continued that streak with a walk in the first game and a hit in Game 2.
In the circle, senior
Bayleigh Kirby (0-4) picked up the loss as she gave up eight runs on seven hits with two strikeouts over seven innings pitched.
UNCG scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning after a two-run double and an RBI single for a 3-0 lead and added another run in the third inning after an RBI single. The Spartans ended the game with four runs in the fifth inning after an error allowed a Spartan to score. The final at-bat of the game was a three-run home run by the Spartans.
In the second game, Estrada, senior catcher
Samantha Ramirez and junior first baseman
Vivica Boyd each recorded hits, while Boyd and Deese each scored a run. In the circle, freshman
Kiara Richards (0-2) picked up the loss giving up eight earned runs in 3.0 innings. Freshman
Sharla Kirkpatrick pitched the final 1.0 innings giving up two runs.
The Spartans scored five runs in the first inning after a two two-run home runs and an error gave the Spartans a 5-0 lead. UNCG added a run in the second inning after a groundout that allowed a Spartan to score for a 6-0 lead.
The Aggies scored the first run of the day in the third inning after a dropped fly in right field allowed Deese to score to cut the lead to 6-1. N.C. A&T scored another run in the fourth inning after a throwing error allowed Boyd to score to cut the lead to 6-2.
UNCG scored four runs in the bottom half of the inning for the final runs of the game after an RBI double, a two-run home run and an RBI single.

Radford Sunday in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
