TOWSON, Md. – North Carolina A&T won the James Brown Invitational bowling tournament, posting a 3-0 record on the final day of the three-day tournament. The Aggies are 23-4 on the season.
The top two teams in the tournament squared off as the Aggies, ranked 13th in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll, defeated No. 17 Duquesne 4-0.
N.C. A&T started with a 197-167 win in the first game and a 216-173 win in the second game. The Aggies finished with a 190-181 win in the third game and a 257-180 win in the final game.
N.C. A&T then beat Morgan State 4-0. The Aggies started with a 195-170 win in the first game and a 192-168 win in the second game. N.C. A&T finished with a 205-156 win in the third game and a 211-156 win in the final game.
In the championship match, the Aggies defeated No. 15 Delaware State 4-1. N.C. A&T started with a 211-169 win in the first game and a 201-179 win in the second game for a 2-0 lead. The Hornets defeated N.C. A&T 214-209 in the third game to cut the lead to 2-1, but the Aggies finished winning the final two games, 184-178 win in the fourth game and a 227-172 win in the fifth game.
The Aggies host the only Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) meet of the season, Friday, Feb. 19-Sunday, Feb. 21 at Triad Lanes.
