Bowling Finishes Third at Kat Klash

The Aggies are 13-8 on the season.

HOUSTON, Texas – The North Carolina A&T bowling team turned in a third-place finish at Sam Houston State University's Kat Klash, Sunday afternoon. The Aggies knocked down 13,300 pins for a tournament-best average of 207.8.

A&T was the No. 1 overall seed in Sunday's bracket play. The Aggies opened up the day against the No. 1 team in the nation according to the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll, the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The Aggies, the No. 5 team in the country, held a 922-877 advantage through the first four games, but a crucial 248-189 fifth game went Nebraska's way, leading to a 1,320-1,304 loss by the Aggies.

A&T still had a shot at the title with a second-round match against SHSU, but the Bearkats took advantage of two sub-200 games from the Aggies to win the match, 896-799.

SHSU advanced to the championship match against Nebraska, and the Cornhuskers claimed the tournament victory, 1,569-1,392.

A&T faced Louisiana Tech in the third-place match and beat the Bulldogs, 895-783, rifling off four-straight 200-plus games. The Aggies bowled a 256 in the match-clinching fourth game to finish off La. Tech.

A&T will have a short turnaround as the first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) meet slated for Nov. 13-14 is in Baltimore, Md.
