MILLSBORO, Del. – The North Carolina A&T maintained their fourth-place position through Saturday's traditional bowling matches, going 2-3 at Maryland-Eastern Shore's (UMES) Hawk Classic.

Sophomore Melanie Katen finished 10th out of 95 individual participants, knocking down 1,037 pins for a 207.4 average. Defending Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) bowler of the week and senior Ericka Quesada finished 12th with 1,033 pins.

They were the only two A&T bowlers to eclipse the 1,000-pin mark on Saturday.

In their first match of the day, the Aggies earned a narrow victory over No. 8 Farleigh Dickinson, 950-948, with Katen's team-high 221 leading the way.

A&T (31-13) dropped the next match against No. 11 Duquesne, 1,028-1,000, despite Katen contributing a 236 and Quesada bowling a day-best 253.

The Aggies had their best match of the day against No. 25 Adelphi, a 1,041-905 win. Three ladies bowled a 200-plus score, with Quesada's 227 being the team-high. Senior Pamela Warr, who finished 31st individually, added a day-best 226.

A&T dropped the final two matches of the day, 1,053-901 to No. 4 Vanderbilt and 1,013-984 to No. 7 Youngstown State.

Junior Lauren Tomaszewski finished 54th individually, bowling four of the five matches and knocking down 783 pins.

True freshman Grace Stull saw her first collegiate action on Saturday and bowled in four of five matches. She turned in a 180.0 per-match average and bowled over 724 pins. Senior Cristina Acosta bowled two matches and knocked down 335 pins.
