Volleyball Welcomes Presbyterian to Moore Gymnasium

Both teams enter the contest 3-3 in the Big South Conference.

NORTH CAROLINA A&T AGGIES (11-7, 3-3 BIG SOUTH): Shaylynn Hall (6-0, SR, middle blocker, Raleigh, N.C.) had a big weekend averaging 2.00 kills and 2.25 blocks. She was the first Aggie to record a kill-block double-double since 2002 with career highs in blocks (11) and kills (13) against Campbell on Saturday.                       

A&T head coach Hal Clifton recorded his 100th career win after North Carolina A&T defeated Hampton 3-0 Friday in Moore Gymnasium. Over the last four seasons, the Aggies have posted a 55-43 (.561) overall record and a 37-11 record in conference play. Clifton has led the Aggies to a .500 or better record over the past four seasons. 

PRESBYTERIAN BLUE HOSE (8-8, 3-3 BIG SOUTH): Presbyterian has won its last two matches and has defeated the three bottom teams of the Big South. Those teams have a combined conference record of 2-16. Erin Cooke leads the Blue Hose in kills per set (2.97), and Kinsey Bailey is the team's leader in assists per set (4.68). Anna Hewitt leads the team in digs per set (4.66), and Hailey Grocholski averages 0.98 blocks per set.  

Korrinn Burgess enters her ninth season as the head coach. The 2019 season marked the fourth straight campaign that PC increased its win total over the prior season as the Blue Hose collected 15 wins, the highest total in Burgess' tenure.

THE SERIES: Presbyterian has won all three matches against the Aggies with the last meeting in 2017, where PC won 3-1 in Greensboro.

CAREER NOTES: 

  • Edie Brewer needs 25 kills to move into sixth place past Samara Brown's (2014-17) 869. Brewer ranks seventh all-time in block assists with 191. 
  • Brewer's 164 service aces put her 22 behind Brenden Chatman (2004-07) for second place. She needs 49 digs to record 1,000.
  • Addy Warfield has 985 assists and needs 15 to become the ninth player in school history with 1,000.
  • Shaylynn Hall has 217 block assists to rank sixth in school history. Hall trails Steffani Eddins (2002-03) by 14 blocks assists for third place. Hall has 41 solo blocks and needs four solo blocks to move past Jasmine Lindor.                      
  • Andrea Laboy-Rivera is tied 10th all-time in service aces with Michelle Spottiswood (1995-96) and Fei Yi (2001-02) with 71. Laboy-Rivera has 1,287 digs and needs 168 to move into second place in front of Lauren Walker (2004-06).
