Aggies Have A 3-0 Sunday at Music City Classic

The Aggies beat three top-15 teams on Sunday.

SMYRNA, Tenn. – The 10th-ranked North Carolina A&T women's bowling entered bracket play in ninth and went 3-0 Sunday to move up two spots to finish in seventh place on the final day of the Columbia 300 Music City Classic hosted by the University of Vanderbilt. 

The Aggies (73-41) started with a 4-2 win over No. 2 Sam Houston State. N.C. A&T outscored SHSU 392-346 over the first two games. SHSU won the third game 210-198 to cut the lead to 2-1, but N.C. A&T won the fourth game 199-171 for a 3-1 lead. The Bearkats won the fifth game 182-174 to cut the lead to 3-2, but the Aggies won the final game 191-179 to move on to face No. 3 Nebraska.

The two teams split the first two games before the Cornhuskers won the third game, 219-191. Nebraska won the fourth game 259-214 to take a 3-1 lead. N.C. A&T needed three wins to advance. They tied Nebraska 229 in the fifth game before winning Game 6, 247-195. They tied the series at 3.5 with a 210-179 win.  

In the final game, the Aggies won the game 98-75 to advance to face No. 12 Central Missouri for seventh place.  

The Aggies took a 2-0 lead before Central Missouri won the third game 258-195. N.C. A&T won Game 4 196-172 to take a 3-1 lead. They clinched the series with a convincing 215-144 win in Game 5. 

The Aggies return to Smyrna, Tenn., for the United State Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Team Championship Sectionals this weekend, March 13-15.
