Aggies Lose at Home to Lehigh

AST GREENSBORO – The North Carolina A&T baseball team dropped game two of their weekend series against Lehigh on Saturday afternoon inside War Memorial Stadium.

The Mountain Hawks (5-8) got the bats going early with a five-run, five-hit top of the first. Lehigh added another run in the second to go up 6-0. Junior lefty Ethan Chavis pitched 4.2 innings, giving up six runs on nine hits with six strikeouts and suffered his first loss of the season, making him 2-1.

The Aggies (6-8) got one run across in the second, but trailed 8-2 going into the eighth. The Mountain Hawks padded their lead with three more runs in the top of the eighth. N.C. A&T responded with four runs of their own in the bottom half as part of a six-hit frame to make it 11-6. The Aggies could not get anything going in the ninth to complete the comeback.

Sophomore infielder Tony Mack led the way offensively for the Aggies with his 3-for-4 performance including an RBI and two runs scored. Senior outfielder Camden Williamson furthered his hitting streak to 13 games with a single in the eighth.

The Aggies will try to recover in the series finale Sunday, March 8 at War Memorial Stadium. The first pitch is scheduled for noon.
