CROYDON, Pa. – North Carolina A&T women's bowling sits in fifth place after the first day of the Northeast Invitational.
The seventh-ranked Aggies (49-20) started off with an 818-665 win over New Jersey City but fell to Tusculum 979-915 in the second match.
N.C. A&T bounced back with a 1,041-887 win over No. 20 Lincoln Memorial in the third match and bowled the second consecutive 1,000-pin match by defeating Medaille 1,033-816 in the fourth match. The Aggies finished with a 951-923 loss to No. 11 Louisiana Tech in the final match of the day.
The Aggies went 3-2 on the first day with 4,730 total pins. N.C. A&T is 39 pins behind fourth-place Sacred Heart (4,769), the 19
th-ranked team in the nation and 60 pins behind third-place Louisiana Tech (4,790). The Aggies are also 15 pins ahead of No. 5 Vanderbilt.
The tournament continues Saturday with five traditional matches. The Aggies face No. 2 Sam Houston State, Kutztown, No. 1 McKendree, Maryville and No. 9 Youngstown State.
