Campbell Defeats N.C. A&T

GREENSBORO – The North Carolina A&T softball team made some excellent contact on Saturday, but Campbell's defense was solid behind starting pitcher Courtney Roberts as the Camels defeated the Aggies 6-1 Thursday afternoon at the Lady Aggies Softball Complex.

The game went swiftly as the Camels pitching was consistent throughout the game and the Aggies pitching got stronger as the game went on. Mahagony Headen, who started for the Aggies on Thursday, drove in the only Aggies run.

Campbell got off to an early start against Headen. They hit two triples in the first inning. Taesha DuBoise's triple led to an RBI single by Amber Schisler. Rachel McCollum's triple drove in Schisler for a 2-0 lead. Madison Herring completed the three-run inning with a sacrifice fly to right field.

Lizabeth McCurry added two more runs for the Camels when she hit a two-run homer in the third. The Aggies avoided the shutout after the Camels added another run in their fourth.

Alejandra Barcenas opened the sixth inning by singling. She stole second and came home on a two-out single to left field. Campbell's Schisler led the way for the camels by going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.

The Aggies head to Hampton this weekend for a tournament. They dropped to 3-3 on the season.
