NSU Closes Out Aggies In Three

NORFOLK - Norfolk State's Charlotte Armstead continued to give the North Carolina A&T volleyball team problems on Friday as she recorded 12 kills to lead the Spartans to a 3-0 win (25-15, 25-18, 25-19) over the Aggies at James D. Gill Gymnasium.

The Aggies were led by freshman Tatiana Cooper who finished with seven kills and a .353 hitting percentage. Freshman Mia Gray added 13 digs.

In the Aggies first match with the Spartans this season, Armstead finished with 15 kills. On Friday, she had help from Jasmine Frazier and Ellica Morris who had seven kills apiece.

The Aggies matched the Spartans point for point in the second set. Cooper slammed down a kill from an Amber Inman set that tied the set at 15. The Spartans scored the next two points, but lost a bit of their lead when Morris committed an attack error. The next three points would go to NSU as two kills and a service ace by Morris gave the Spartans a 20-16 lead.

The Aggies would never get any closer than four the rest of the way as the Spartans took a 2-0 lead in the match.

In the third set, the Spartans jumped out to an 18-12 lead. The Aggies got to within four on an Armstead attack error. But NSU pulled away as Armstead ended the match with a kill.

The Aggies dropped to 2-25 overall and 0-3 in the MEAC. The Spartans are 10-15 overall and 4-1 in the MEAC.
