GREENSBORO –
North Carolina A&T's volleyball team didn't get the kind of
performance
it wanted heading into the conference portion of its schedule, but it
didn't negate the fact that the Aggies are entering the most important
portion of the 2009 schedule.
The Aggies lost to High Point University 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-15) at
Corbett Sports Center. Senior Janae Mitchell led the Aggies with 12
kills and eight digs. Senior Tiffany Mellette added 10 kills, and
junior
Bridget McCaskill had 14 digs.
HPU was led by Megan Smith who finished with 14 kills and eight digs
on
a .429 hitting percentage.
N.C. A&T open conference play at Norfolk State Friday night at 6.
The
Aggies have just one win this season, but they can salvage the season
with strong conference play. Before returning home, the Aggies also
have
road conference games against Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M.
They return home to play N.C. Central on Oct. 20 before playing four
straight home conference games, starting with Norfolk State on Friday,
Oct. 23.
