North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University Chancellor James R. Martin II announced the hiring of Katreshia Louis-Verrett as North Carolina A&T’s Director of Athletics on August 14, 2026.
Verrett spent six years as North Carolina A&T’s Deputy Athletics Director from 2011-17 before returning to Aggieland in 2026. Before returning to North Carolina A&T, she spent nine years (2017-26) at UAB serving as the Blazers’ Senior Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator (SWA).
During her first stint at North Carolina A&T, Louis-Verrett served as sport administration for eight teams. She also served as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator, advisor for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and athletic liaison to the Faculty Athlete Representative, where she collaborated and submitted all NCAA reports.
“At North Carolina A&T, our commitment to student success is our No. 1 priority, and that certainly includes the success of our student athletes,” said Martin II. “Katreshia is equally passionate about that commitment, as well as ensuring that our athletics teams and student athletes have the resources, guidance, and support to succeed in competition.
She is fiercely competitive and will expect excellence from our coaches, staff, and student-athletes. We are delighted that she is rejoining A&T and expecting great things under her leadership.”
Louis-Verrett has a deep, up-to-the-minute understanding of intercollegiate athletics, knowledge she has amassed over a 20-year career that also included five years as assistant AD for Georgia Tech (2006-11) and service on key NCAA committees that helped shape oversight of collegiate athletics nationwide.
While at Georgia Tech, she worked with student-athletes, coaches, and staff to ensure that day-to-day compliance duties were being upheld. Among her responsibilities, she directed the Next Level Seminar, a program designed to educate parents about agents and advisors.
Louis-Verrett earned her Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center in 2004. From there, she worked as a Legal Loan Closer and Customer Service Representative for the U.S. Small Business Administration and as a Closing Agent and Legal Advisor for Carter, Martin & Hill, APLC. The skill sets learned from those positions provided the experience necessary for legal compliance.
She earned her undergraduate degree in sociology from the University of Miami in 2000 and her master’s degree in Sport Administration from Miami in 2017. While in undergrad, she was a four-year standout on the track and field team. The Hurricanes captured back-to-back Big East Championships in 1998 and 1999.
Louis-Verrett currently serves on the Division I Progress Toward Degree Waiver Committee and has been an active member of the Women Leaders in College Sports (WLCS) and the National Association of Athletics Compliance (NAAC) since 2008.
