Dr. Janah Fletcher joined the North Carolina A&T Department of Athletics in July 2010 as an assistant athletics trainer. She became the head athletics trainer in 2011, and later promoted to associate athletics director for student-athlete health & sports performance in 2019. Dr. Fletcher also serves as the senior woman administrator.
Prior to arriving at A&T, Dr. Fletcher was an assistant athletics trainer at Davidson College from 2006 to 2010. While at Davidson, she worked primarily with the field hockey, wrestling, and men’s tennis teams.
Fletcher earned her bachelor’s degree in exercise and sports science in 2004 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill followed by her master’s degree in athletics training from UNC Greensboro in 2006. In 2019, Dr. Fletcher earned her Doctorate of Education in kinesiology from UNC Greensboro.
Dr. Fletcher is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers’ Association (MAATA), and the North Carolina Athletic Trainers’ Association (NCATA). She served as a board member for the North Carolina Athletic Trainer Examiners from 2012-2018. She is the co-chair of the NCATA Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee. In addition, she serves as the North Carolina state representative to the MAATA Ethnic Diversity Committee and is the HBCU representative for the NATA Intercollege Council for Sports Medicine.
