North Carolina A&T head women’s basketball coach Tarrell Robinson named Asia Dozier as an assistant head coach for the program on July 11, 2023. Dozier had enormous success at the high school level. She arrives at the East Greensboro campus after spending a season as an assistant coach with the University of Buffalo Bulls women’s basketball program.
Before serving as an assistant with the Bulls, she coached the Cardinal Newman School (Columbia, S.C.) to two consecutive SCISA Class 3A championships and a 33-6 record in two seasons (2020-22) as the head coach. Legion Collegiate, a public charter high school, experienced success under Dozier, posting a winning season in the program’s inaugural season in 2019-20. Three players from that team went on to play on the collegiate level.
Dozier started her career as a graduate assistant at the University of Florida for one season during the 2016-17 season. She handled breaking down game films, preparing scouting reports and assisting with organized official visits.
In 2016, Dozier graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in business administration with a minor in sports and entertainment management. She also had a standout collegiate career for the Gamecocks women’s basketball program under legendary coach Dawn Staley.
When Dozier left Columbia, she was a part of the winningest senior class in program history, helping USC post a 121-18 record over her four-year career (2012-16) with a program-best .871 winning percentage, including three SEC championships and four straight Sweet 16 appearances. Dozier was a three-year captain for Staley.
A native of Columbia, SC, Dozier starred at her hometown high school, Spring Valley, where she was named the 2012 South Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year and was a McDonald All-American nominee after leading the Vikings to back-to-back state titles in her junior and senior years.
