GREENSBORO – Graduate North Carolina A&T men's golfer
Drew Walker shattered program records on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) awarded him with the Aggies second weekly honor of the 2025-26 season. The CAA named Walker men's golfer of the week after he won the 2026 Surf Club Invitational hosted by Appalachian State on the par-71, 6,604-yard Surf Golf & Beach Club golf course. Junior
Camilo Marin won the award on September 25, 2025.
Walker seized the tournament by firing a three-round 69-67-64—200, finishing 13-under, edging Georgia State's Connor MacMillan (67-67-67—201) and Elon's Drew Yeagley (68-68-65—201) by one stroke. His 64 on Tuesday smashed the program record for fewest strokes previously set by Walker's sophomore teammate
Javier Morgado, who posted a 7-under 65 at the PGA Works Championship on May 6, 2025.
Walker's three-round 200 also eclipsed the program record for fewest strokes in a tournament, surpassing Diego Gonzalez's mark from the Elon Invitational on October 12, 2021. His third-round performance on Tuesday propelled A&T to a top 5 finish. Walker delivered a magnificent third round on Tuesday.
He chased O'Donovan by three strokes and MacMillan and Yeagley by two shots heading into the third round. But O'Donovan opened his third round with a double bogey, giving Walker an opportunity. Meanwhile, Walker opened his round on the par 4, 366-yard 12th with a par putt before notching a birdie on the par 3, 179-yard 13th. He returned to birdie land again on the 15th, posting a birdie on the 411-yard par 4.
He stumbled on 16 and 17, recording back-to-back bogeys, putting his tournament championship in jeopardy. But then he took command of the course. He birdied the 205-yard par 3 18th before making the turn and birdying the par 5, 499-yard first to move to 2-under for the day. Walker tallied his third straight birdie on the par-4, 432-yard second before notching pars on his next two holes to remain at 3-under for the day and 9-under for the tournament.
However, on the par-5, 516-yard fifth, Walker surged ahead. He eagled the hole, then followed that with a birdie on the par-3, 158-yard No. 6. Walker faltered with a bogey on No. 7, slipping into a three-way tie with MacMillan and Yeagley. He recovered with pars on Nos. 8 and 9. Needing a strong finish to win, Walker birdied the par-4, 462-yard 10th and the par-4, 324-yard 12th to clinch the tournament.
McMillan strung together five consecutive pars on holes 15, 16, 17, 18, and 1 to support Walker. Walker's eagle secured the edge over Yeagley, who posted only one bogey during the final round. Walker claimed the second A&T individual tournament win of the season after Marin, marking the first time in program history that the Aggies produced two medalists in the same season. Four individuals have captured five tournaments for the Aggies since the program launched in 2017.
