A&T Bowling Finishes 10th at 2026 Northeast Classic

The Aggies went 7-3 against ranked opponents during the tournament.

NEW CASTLE, Del. – The 13th-ranked North Carolina A&T bowling team completed the 2026 Northeast Classic hosted by Sacred Heart at Bowlerama in 10th place after Sunday's best-of-seven bracket play in Baker format. A&T went 2-1 on the day, and they were 10-3 for the tournament, totaling 13,466 pins for an average of 201.0 over 67 games played.

A&T had a total pinfall of 3,632 on Sunday. Jacksonville State, the No. 1 ranked team in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Top 25 poll, won the tournament, going 12-0 with a total pinfall of 12,925 to average a tournament-high 215.4 over 60 games played. The remainder of the top five included second-ranked Vanderbilt (11-2, 213.7), sixth-ranked Wichita State (10-3, 205.5), third-ranked Arkansas State (10-3, 202.0), and fifth-ranked Louisiana Tech (11-2, 200.2).

The Aggies entered best-of-seven bracket play as the No. 11 seed and started the morning against 22nd-ranked and 12th-seeded Duquesne University. The Dukes got off to a good start, out-pinning the Aggies 226-172 in Game 1 before the Aggies out-pinned Duquesne 664-491 over the next three games to take a 3-1 lead.

The Dukes survived Game 5, winning 168-164 before the Aggies closed out the match with a 254-196 win in Game 6 and the series 4-2. The win advanced A&T to face 11th-ranked Sacred Heart.

Sacred Heart and A&T split the first two games before the Aggies squeezed by to win Game 3, 240-231. The Game 3 win gave the Aggies the momentum they needed to close out the Pioneers. A&T out-pinned the Pioneers 467-378 over the next two games to win the series 4-1. The win set up a matchup between A&T and fourth-ranked Nebraska for ninth place.

Nebraska took Game 1 before the Aggies dominated Game 2 by winning 225-138. Nebraska won a competitive Game 3, 236-233, to take the lead in the series. A&T evened the series with another strong showing in Game 4, winning 258-207. But the Cornhuskers out-pinned 499-379 over the next two games to win the series 4-2.

A&T comes away from the 2026 Northeast Classic with an overall record of 39-22. The Aggies went 7-3 against ranked competition over the weekend. A&T returns to the road to participate in the Prairie View A&M University Invite at the International Training and Research Center (ITRC) in Arlington, Texas. The tournament starts Friday, January 23, and concludes on Sunday, January 25.
