HARAHAN, La. – North Carolina A&T bowling completed the 2025 Colonial Lanes Classic hosted by the Tulane University Green Wave at Colonial Lanes in sixth place after going 1-2 in best-of-seven bracket play played in Baker format on Sunday.
The Colonial Lanes Classic marks the final tournament of the fall for the Aggies, the seventh-ranked team in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll. They went 6-7 during the Colonial, and they are 29-17 for the fall. A&T totaled 13,220 pins over the three-day tournament, averaging 200.3 pins over 66 games. The Aggies totaled 3,154 pins during bracket play on Sunday.
Sixth-ranked Arkansas State won the tournament, finishing with a total pinfall of 13,737. Third-ranked Vanderbilt finished second with a total pinfall of 12,844, followed by ninth-ranked Louisiana Tech (13,667), second-ranked Nebraska (14,018), and fifth-ranked Wichita State (13,000).
Junior Payton Hartgrove led the Aggies individually during traditional team play, posting a total pinfall of 1,104 with an average of 220.80 to finish fifth. She earned all-tournament honors for her efforts.
Freshman Sara Giraldo placed 14th with a total pinfall of 1,054 to average 210.80 over five games. Freshman Charisse Graham and sophomore Victorya White placed 32nd and 33rd, respectively, with Graham totaling 977 pins and White totaling 976 pins. Junior Savannah Burgin bowled three games during traditional team play and totaled 532 pins. Senior Juliana Sams bowled twice during traditional and had a total pinfall of 411.
The Aggies entered bracket play as the No. 6 seed and opened against fifth-seeded La Tech, getting off to a slow start. The Bulldogs out-pinned the Aggies 454-342 over the first two games of the best-of-seven. The Aggies bounced back to win Game 3 before La Tech closed out A&T by winning Games 4 and 5 to win the series 4-1. La Tech out-pinned A&T 1,086-953. A&T's loss set up a matchup against tournament host, 19th-ranked Tulane.
Tulane and A&T went the distance with A&T outlasting the Green Wave 4-3 in the best of seven. The two teams split the first four games evenly before the Aggies took a 3-2 advantage with a 205-174 win in Game 5. The Green Wave fought back to force a Game 7 with a 206-179 win before the Aggies advanced to play fifth place against Wichita State by beating Tulane 199-189 in a thrilling Game 7. The Aggies out-pinned Tulane 1,413-1,383. The Shockers took fifth place by beating the Aggies 4-0, out-pinning the Aggies 841-788.
A&T will now enter the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday breaks before returning to action after the New Year with a tournament in New Castle, Del., the NE Classic hosted by Sacred Heart from January 16-18.
