ORLANDO, Fla. – Seventh-ranked North Carolina A&T had a tremendous Day 2 at the Destination Orlando bowling tournament on Saturday, moving up five spots from Friday's showing to sixth place. One more traditional match is scheduled for Sunday morning at AMF Sky Lanes before the Aggies enter Sunday's bracket play.

The Aggies went 4-1 on Saturday during traditional match play, totaling 4,833 pins for a second-day average of 193.32. A&T is 7-3 for the tournament with a total pinfall of 9,515 for a two-day average of 190.3. The No. 1 team in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll, Jacksonville State, still leads the tournament with a total pinfall of 10,451, followed by No. 9 Louisiana Tech (10,023), No. 5 Wichita State (10,004), No. 3 Vanderbilt (9,876), and No. 2 Nebraska (9,784) in the top 5.

A&T opened the day by beating fellow Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) bowling member UAB. The 18th-ranked Blazers defeated the Aggies 1,013-976. Senior Julianna Sams led the Aggies with a 219 total pinfall. Sophomore Jasmine Hall contributed with a 209, but Madelynn Olivia's 255 was too much to overcome.

The Aggies were victorious the rest of the day, starting with a convincing 930-779 win over Alabama State. White bowled a 229 and Hall and Cruz each added a total pinfall of 190 to lead A&T. The Aggies moved on to face 10th-ranked Maryville, where the Aggies escaped with a 937-927 win over the Saints, thanks partly to freshman Sara Giraldo's 218. Saint Anslem College took its chances with the Aggies next but failed. The Aggies defeated SAC 990-813. Giraldo delivered again, posting a 229 total pinfall. Junior Savannah Burgin stepped into post 211, followed by White's 201. White had her best showing in A&T's final matchup of the day, a 1,00-887 win over longtime rival, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES).

White bowled a 231 against the 16th-ranked Hawks. Giraldo led the way with a 234 total pinfall. Burgin added a 199 total pinfall. Giraldo bowled three games on Saturday, totaling 674 pins and an average of 224.67.
