GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T's baseball program is welcoming back a familiar face to their staff with the appointment of former player Ethan Chavis as the new director of pitching development. Chavis will work with A&T pitching coach Forrest Arnold to prepare for a rigorous schedule that includes facing some of the excellent Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) hitters. In addition, he will also be the director of the Ben Hall Baseball Camps.
"I'm really excited to bring back one of our former pitchers in the director of pitching development role," said A&T head coach Ben Hall. "The addition to the staff gives us someone with program familiarity but also a fresh perspective from his time at Ole Miss in the SEC (Southeastern Conference) in 2024. Ethan will be a huge asset to coach Arnold in their day-to-day programming for the pitching staff and lead the development of our camps."
Chavis played baseball for the Aggies from 2018-21 and was known as one of the few left-handed pitchers on the Aggies roster during his time in Aggieland. Chavis made 36 appearances and 18 starts, achieving a 5-7 record with 75 strikeouts and a 4.13 ERA in 106.2 innings pitched. Before returning to his alma mater, Chavis was a graduate student manager at Ole Miss, assisting in all aspects of the baseball program.
"I am really excited to be in this position with the baseball program," Chavis said. "It means a lot to come back to help develop our players and strive to win championships at my alma mater. I am ready to see what this journey has in store."
