EAST GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T head bowling coach Kim Terrell-Kearney announced the Aggies 2022-23 schedule on Friday. It includes nine tournaments, including two tournaments the Aggies will host at Triad Lanes in Greensboro.
The great thing about the Aggies hosting two meets is that the team will be in town for two straight weeks. First, the Aggies will host the second Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) meet, February 18-19. Then, the following week A&T hosts the annual Vernell Stallings Invitational, Feb. 24-26. The Aggies have won the Stallings Invite two out of the past three seasons.
"We look forward to the start of this upcoming season," said Terrell-Kearney. "I know the amount of hard work this team has put in during the offseason. We hope to even better last year's success."
Bettering last year's success, which included a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) regular-season and tournament title and an 86-39 (.688) record, is no small task. But if the past is any indication, the Aggies will be fine. The Aggies had a 13-win improvement from 2019-20 to the 2021-22 season. The Aggies have also won three out of the last four MEAC titles.
For the second-straight year, A&T will begin their season at Tulane's Colonial Classic in New Orleans October 14-16, a tournament they won in 2022. The Aggies will participate in three tournaments in November, starting with the Kat Klash hosted by Sam Houston State, Nov. 4-6, in Houston, Texas.
A week later is the first MEAC Meet hosted by Maryland Eastern Shore in Millsboro, Del., November 11-12. The Aggies return to Millsboro a week later for the UMES Hawk Classic, November 18-20, where they finished third a year ago.
A&T does return to action until after the New Year for the SHU Northeast Classic hosted by Sacred Heart, Jan. 20-22. Then, a week later, they will return to the Prairie View A&M Invitational in Arlington, Texas, Jan. 27-29. Returning anchor Lauren Tomaszewski, an Arlington native, earned tournament MVP after a 228.67 average in six matches at Prarie View in 2022.
After the Aggies host two straight tournaments, a title defense of Morgan State's James Brown Invitational is next on the calendar for the Aggies, February 10-12. The regular season ends March 17-19 at Vanderbilt's Music City Classic in Smyrna, Tenn.
The Aggies will look to defend their conference title at the MEAC Bowling Championships, March 24-26 in Chesapeake, Va.
