A&T Bowling Goes 5-0, Friday at Music City

SMYRNA, Tenn. – North Carolina A&T was one of three bowling teams to go undefeated on Friday during the Columbia 300 Music City Classic opening day hosted by Vanderbilt University at the Smyrna Bowling Center. 

A&T won all five of its Baker play matches on Friday to improve to 76-34. 

The Aggies, who are ranked sixth in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Power Index Rating, knocked down 4,874 pins for a five-game average of 195.0. 

The top-ranked team in the nation, McKendree, led the way with a 212.0 average followed by eighth-ranked Stephen F. Austin (206.8), fourth-ranked Vanderbilt (205.2), seventh-ranked Arkansas State (204.4) and second-ranked Sam Houston State University (202.9) in the top-5. 

SHSU and Long Island University (LIU0) were the other two teams to finish 5-0 on Friday. 

The Aggies opened the tournament with a 1,008-967 win over third-ranked Nebraska. On lanes 19 and 20, the Aggies then took on No. 21 Lincoln Memorial. A&T defeated the Railsplitters 972-924. 

A&T continued to play well as they moved lanes 35 and 36 to face Kentucky Wesleyan 964-845. The Aggies had their way against the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB). The Aggies defeated the Blazers 1,007-837. 

The Aggies finished the day with a convincing 923-777 win over Valparaiso. 

Competition at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic will continue on Saturday at the Smyrna Bowling Center. Five traditional team games will occur, with the action starting at 9:30 a.m.
