Bowling Still In Contention to Qualify For Nationals

The Aggies are in third place. The top four teams qualify.

SMYRNA, Tenn. – The North Carolina A&T women's bowling program sits in third after Day 1 at the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Sectional Championships Saturday. The top four teams qualify for nationals after tomorrow's competition. 

Through the first 32 baker matches, A&T has knocked over 5,937 pins for an average of 187.1. The Aggies began the first block with a 199. Then, they bowled two games with 200-plus scores, a 214 in Game 2 and a day-high 236 in the ninth game.  

After the first block of 16 matches, the Aggies found themselves in fifth-place with 2,869 pins, 21 pins out of the top-four. 

A&T got things rolling in the second block, bowling 3,068 pins in the second 16 matches. They had five 200-plus games in that sequence, including a 232 in Game 22. Eleven games of 185-plus propelled the Aggies up two spots inside the qualifying top-four heading into the final day of competition on Sunday. 

A&T is slated for 32 more baker games tomorrow and will need a top-four finish to qualify for nationals in Addison, Ill.
