SMYRNA, Tenn. – The North Carolina A&T was well-represented at the sectional qualifier of the 2022 Intercollegiate Singles on Friday evening in bowling action. Four Aggies competed in seniors Ericka Quesada and Pamela Warr, junior Lauren Tomaszewski and sophomore Melanie Katen.
On Friday night, it was tough odds, as out of the 175 competitors, only the top six individuals qualified and advanced to nationals.
Quesada was the top finisher for A&T, competing in six games and knocking down 1,178 pins, including a day-high 242 in Game 1. Unfortunately, that was good for 17th-place, narrowly missing the qualifying mark.
Tomaszewski finished 24th, knocking over 1,157 pins in six games. She had three 200-plus games, including a 218 in her final game of the day.
Katen came in 32nd. She, too, competed in six matches and had three 200-plus games. She smacked down 1,132 pins and had a day-best 215 in the final game.
Warr rounded out the competition for the Aggies on Friday. She knocked over 1,114 pins in six showings, good for 43rd. She had a single 200-plus game on the day, a 215 in the fifth game.
Tamera Stanton (Mount St. Mary's) claimed first place overall. Her teammate, Rebecca Dodson, also qualified with a fourth-place finish.
The Aggies will get another shot over the weekend. Teams will bowl four rounds over two days for 64 Baker matches in all, and the top four finishing teams will qualify for nationals in Addison, Ill.
