BALTIMORE, Md. – The North Carolina A&T picked up their second bowling tournament victory of the season, winning the James Brown Invitational hosted by Morgan State over the weekend.
A&T earned the No. 1 seed in bracket play after bowling a tournament-high 10,319 pins through the first two days of competition. They faced No. 2 Delaware State in Round 1.
The Aggies dropped the first game, 216-205, to fall behind 1-0. The teams tied the second game at 162 before A&T won four-straight, bowling a match-high 256 in the sixth game to claim victory.
The win earned the ladies an automatic bid to the finals, but they faced Mount Aloysius College in the second round with no playoff implications. The Aggies made quick work the Mounties, 4-0.
Delaware State defeated No. 3 Duquesne, 4-3, to earn a rematch with the Aggies in the title game. The teams tied at 234 in Game 1 before A&T went up 1-0 by winning the second game, 229-179.
A&T would not be denied. The Aggies won the following three matches in finishing off their Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) counterpart in five games, 4-1, to claim the tournament title.
