The faced three of the top teams in the MEAC on Saturday.

BALTIMORE, Md. – North Carolina A&T maintained their first-place standing after Day 2 of bowling at Morgan State's James Brown Invitational. The sixth-ranked Aggies in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll are 7-3 and have knocked down a tournament-high 10,319 pins.

Tournament officials did not report individual scores for A&T.

In their first match of the day, the ladies clashed with the 10th-ranked team in the nation in Mount St. Mary's. Unfortunately, the Aggies were only able to muster one 200-plus score in the fourth game and eventually fell, 1,121-991.

Next up, A&T had Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) rival and 14th-ranked Delaware State. The Aggies opened the match with back-to-back scores of 234. But a 175 in Game 3 and a 176 in the final game allowed the Hornets to escape with a 1,083-1,020 victory.

That was the last match A&T lost on Saturday.

Eighteenth-ranked Morgan State, the tournament host and fellow MEAC member took advantage of two sub-200 scores from the Aggies and jumped out to a 425-357 lead heading into the third game. A&T won Game 3 handily, 216-177. The Aggies won the fourth game convincingly, 212-159, and narrowly finished off the Bears in five games, 1,012-1,004.

A&T blew out Felician University in their fourth match, 1,096-799, before facing their third and final MEAC counterpart of the day in the No. 16 Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES).

After the first game, the Aggies were minus-60, 223-163. But a 159 from the Hawks in Game 2 allowed A&T to cut their deficit to 28 pins. The Aggies blew the game open in the third, beating the Hawks, 251-161.

A&T eventually claimed the victory with their fourth 1,000-plus match of the day, 1,044-969.
