EAST GREENSBORO – The National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) released its All-Divisions Top-25 poll on Wednesday.

The North Carolina A&T Aggies are in a familiar position as one of the top-10 bowling programs in the nation. The Aggies will come into the 2022-23 season as the seventh-ranked team in the nation, receiving 902 points in the poll. McKendree is the No. 1 team in the country with 23 first-place and 1,312 points. Vanderbilt is ranked second, followed by Nebraska, Stephen A. Austin and Sam Houston State in the top-5.

The next five schools in the top-10 are Arkansas State, A&T, Louisiana Tech, Youngstown State and Fairleigh Dickinson. The poll has four other Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) teams, including Delaware State at No. 12, Maryland Eastern Shore at No. 14, Morgan State at No. 19 and Monmouth at No. 23.

A&T has been a dominant force in the MEAC. The Aggies have won three out of the last four MEAC tournaments and have reached the NCAA tournament in each of those conference championship seasons. During the 2020-21 season, the Aggies reached their highest national ranking in school history when they earned a No. 4 ranking. In addition, the Aggies were the 2021 United States Bowling Congress (USBC) national runner-up.

The Aggies come into the 2022-23 season with two of the best bowlers in the country. NTCA first-team All-American Lauren Tomaszewski is the preseason MEAC bowler of the year. In addition, third-team NTCA All-American Melanie Katen won MEAC bowler of the year honors last season. A&T opens the 2022-23 season on Oct. 14 when they travel to New Orleans to play in the Tulane U. Colonial Classic. The tournament concludes Oct. 16.
