ARLINGTON, Texas – The No. 4 North Carolina A&T women's bowling team is in fifth place after individual play at the Prairie View Invitational with junior Lauren Tomaszewski finishing in first place overall. Tomaszewski knocked down 1,160 pins in total and averaged 232.0 per match.
Eight ladies bowled for the blue and gold on Saturday including Tomaszewski, with a trio of them finishing 25th-27th. Katen knocked down 615 pins in three matches for a 205.0 average to finish 25th. Right behind her came Chloe Newberry in her best finish of the season thus far in 26th with 614 pins in three matches. Ericka Quesada was 27th, bowling all five matches and smashing 1,019 pins for a 203.8 average.
Maya Avilez tallied 384 pins in two matches to finish 38th and Pamela Warr rounded out top-50 finishers in 45th with 940 pins. Grace Stull (154, 77th) and Laura Garcia (150, 79th) each bowled one match on the day.
The Aggies opened up play on Saturday with a 1,029-924 victory over No. 1 Sam Houston State thanks to Tomaszewski's match-high 224.
The team would stumble in the next game, dropping to No. 13 Tulane, 1,017-875, but get back on track quickly in the next match to beat No. 8 Youngstown State, 1,005-936.
The Aggies put it all together in their fourth game with a 1,122-958 win over No. 19 Sacred Heart that featured a season-best 266 from Tomaszewski, as well as dual 233's from Newberry and Quesada.
A&T would round out the day with a 1,005-969 win over No. 3 Nebraska to earn the No. 5 seed for Sunday's bracket play.
