A&T Men's Indoor Track and Field Makes Its Debut

Three newcomers make their Aggie debuts on Sunday.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The men their turn at the JDL Fast Track on Sunday. The North Carolina A&T indoor men's track and field team opened their season at the College Kick-off event that saw the ladies win twice on Saturday. 

The men did not come away with first-place finishes, but a personal record was set. Freshman Kendrell Goodes (Spencer, N.C.) jumped 6-feet, 9-inches to finish third. It was a personal best for Goodes making his Aggies debut. Duke's Allen Beau won the event at 6-feet, 11 ½-inches, followed by N.C. Central's Marvin Jones, who jumped 6-feet, 11-inches. 

Freshman Breyden Hodgest (Fort Worth, Texas) also competed for the first time in his collegiate career. Hodgest finished 15th in the men's weight throw with his best toss landing at 41-feet, 11 ½-inches. USC Upstate's Tony Auguste won the event with a throw of 60-feet, 6-inches. 

Another Aggie newcomer, Aeneas Reed (Germantown, Tenn.), finished 11th in the men's long jump. Reed's best jump landed him at 21-feet, 1 ½-inches. Montreat's Dustin Blevins won the event with a meet-record 24-feet, 6 ¼-inches. 

The Aggies will not return to action until 2022, when they participate in the Clemson Invitational, scheduled for Jan. 14-15. That is when many of the Aggies standout athletes are expected to make their season debuts.
