BALTIMORE, Md. – The North Carolina A&T women's bowling team went a perfect 8-0 in the first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) meet of the season on Sunday afternoon. The Aggies dominated with a 205.1 average, almost 14 pins higher than second-place and host Morgan State.
The Aggies, the fifth-ranked team in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA), knocked down 9,320 pins, 623 more than any other team at the round-robin event.
A&T began Sunday's baker action with a 994-875 win over the University of Alabama-Birmingham. Leading by just eight after the first game, A&T would fire off four-straight 200-plus games, including a crucial 213 in the final game to beat the Blazers.
The Aggies (25-9) exploded for a season-high 1,167 pins in a rout of Delaware State to move to 2-0 against the Hornets, an NCAA participant last season. A&T put together their two best games, a 269 followed by a 288, to put DSU's hopes to bed.
The Aggies final match of the day against the Morgan State Bears, a game where they cruised to a 1,074-917 win to finish the meet 8-0. A&T sandwiched a 265 and 251 in-between three 170-plus games to rob the Bears of a single frame.
The Aggies did not face an opponent in the fourth game but bowled scores of 169-217-193-182-226.
The women's bowling team will be in action for the third-straight weekend when they head to Maryland-Eastern Shore's Hawk Classic Friday, Nov. 19-21 in Millsboro, Del.
