PENSACOLA, Fla. – North Carolina A&T women's bowling finished third at the second Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) meet.
The Aggies (65-37, 17-3 MEAC) started with a 914-748 win over Norfolk State in a baker match Sunday morning prior to bracket play.
N.C. A&T got out to an early lead over the first two games knocking down 378 pins to NSU's 294. The Aggies continued to outscore the Spartans 186-161 in the third game and completed the blowout by outscoring the Spartans 350-293 over the final two games.
The Aggies entered bracket play against No. 18 Delaware State and the Hornets defeated N.C. A&T 4-3. N.C. A&T won the first game 181-156 but lost the next two matches, 190-178 and 184-156. N.C. A&T tied the series at 2 after winning 200-177 in the fourth game.
But Delaware State won the fifth game, 205-179 to take a 3-2 lead. The Aggies won the sixth game, 204-194, to tie the series at three. Delaware State won the final game 185-137 to advance to the next round, while the Aggies dropped to face No. 22 Monmouth.
The Aggies won the first two games, but Monmouth won the next three games, 198-179, 216-149 and 212-179 to take a 3-2 lead. N.C. A&T won the final two games, 225-154 in the sixth game and 194-187 in the final game, to beat Monmouth.
The next two tournaments will be held in Smyrna, Tenn., starting with the Vanderbilt Music City Classic from March 6-8.
