PENSACOLA, Fla. – Eighth-ranked North Carolina A&T women's bowling went 3-1 on Day 2 of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) meet to continue in third place.
The Aggies (63-36, 16-3 MEAC) started the day with an 849-822 win over Morgan State followed by a 1,011-972 win over No. 22 Monmouth. Twenty-first ranked Alabama-Birmingham (UAB) defeated N.C. A&T 891-881 in the third game. The Aggies defeated Florida A&M 995-904 to close out competition.
N.C. A&T finished the day with a bye recording 898 pins.
Sophomore
Ericka Quesada led the Aggies with a fourth-place finish with 1,014 total pins for a five-game average of 202.80. Quesada's 200 game against the Monmouth Hawks before her 199 against UAB kept the Aggies competitive. She bowled a season-high 238 in the Aggies win over FAMU. She bowled a 215 in the bye.
Senior
Tyra Merritt finished eighth with 946 total pins to average 189.20 over five games. Merritt recorded a 192 against Morgan State before having her best game of the day, a 210 in the win over FAMU. Junior
Cameron Strombeck had 900 total pins (180.0) to finish 18
th. Strombeck helped the Aggies knock off Monmouth with a 203. She had a 197 in the win over FAMU.
Senior
Pamela Warr finished 20
th with 895 total pins for an average of 179.00 over five games. Warr had her highest score of the day, a 202, in the win over Monmouth. She also posted a 200 in the Aggies victory over FAMU.
Junior
Ana Olaya posted 879 total pins for an average of 175.80. Olaya had an outstanding 226 to help the Aggies defeat the FAMU Rattlers.
Sixth-ranked Maryland Eastern Shore leads the tournament going 9-0 in two days with a total of 9,682 pins for an average of 193.6 followed by No. 18 Delaware State going 7-2 with 9.523 total pins for an average of 190.5. The Aggies are third with a 7-2 record and 9,246 total pins for an average of 184.9.
The Aggies finish the tournament Sunday with one traditional match against Norfolk State, followed by two bracket matches.
