CROYDON, Pa. – North Carolina A&T women's bowling team dropped to 13
th on the second day of the Northeast Invitational at AMF Bristol Park Lanes. The Aggies came into Saturday's competition in fifth place.
Junior
Ana Olaya led the team with 956 total pins for a five-game average of 191.20 to finish 25
th. Olaya bowled a 161 in the first game followed by three consecutive 200-plus games of 200-plus. Her top game was a 224 in the fourth game.
Junior
Cameron Strombeck finished second on the team with 868 total pins for a five-game average of 173.60 to finish in 62
nd place. Strombeck's best showing of the day was a 210 in the fourth game. Sophomore
Ericka Quesada finished with 842 total pins for a five-game average of 168.40.
Quesada bowled a 194 in the first game for her highest score on the day. Senior
Mia Pope totaled 638 pins for a four-game average of 159.50. Pope's bet score was 168. Sophomore
Pamela Warr finished with 542 total pins for a three-game average of 180.67. Her top score was 222 in the final game.
Sophomore
Cristina Acosta totaled 501 pins for a three-game average of 167.00. Acosta bowled a 194 in the first game for her top game.
The Aggies started the day with a 908-873 loss to No. 2 Sam Houston State before losing to Kutztown 998-890 in the second match. N.C. A&T were defeated by No. 1 McKendree 1,031-808 in the third game and No. 15 Maryville 868-851 in the fourth game. Ninth-ranked Youngstown State defeated the Aggies 1,054-925 in the final game.
N.C. A&T recorded 4,347 total pins Saturday to bring the total to 9,077 pins for an average of 181.5 for 13
th place. The Aggies are 31 pins behind Monmouth and 56 pins behind Adelphi.
The Aggies face No. 14 Delaware State in the first round of bracket play Sunday. The winner moves on to face the loser between No. 21 Adelphi and No. 23 Monmouth, while the loser faces the winner of Long Island and St. Francis College – Brooklyn.
