EAST GREENSBORO (January 31, 2019) –The North Carolina A&T men’s tennis team hits the road this weekend to take on Georgia Southern on Friday, Feb. 1 at 3 p.m. in Statesboro, Ga. and Radford on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 3 p.m. in Radford, Va.


A&T enters the contests 0-2 with losses to Appalachian State and Elon during their season-opening doubleheader. This will be the first time that A&T will face Georgia Southern since the men’s tennis program was reestablished in 2014. The Aggies did face Radford in 2015 with the Highlanders winning 7-0 over the Aggies.


Georgia Southern is 3-1 on the season and went 13-13 overall last season. Their only loss this season came at the hand of nationally-ranked Florida State (No. 20). Their three wins were over MEAC schools Florida A&M and Morgan State and the Southern Conference's The Citadel. The Eagles are returning two sophomores,  three juniors, and a pair of seniors.


Radford went 10-12 last season with the match against N.C. A&T scheduled to be their 2019 season opener. The Highlanders returned a pair of juniors and two seniors. One of the returning seniors in Alexandros Caldwell who led the team in wins last season with 19  at the No. 1 and 2 singles positions.
